Melvin A. Deyarmin, 85, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late Russell T. and Bessie M. Hill Deyarmin, he was born July 10, 1927, in Brush Valley.
Mr. Deyarmin was owner and operator of Deyarmin Sanitation for 60 years. He was a member of the United Church of God. Mr. Deyarmin was very devoted to his faith and family, and he loved his dogs, Sparky and Chi Chi. He enjoyed playing the fiddle with his family, and was the last fiddle player of his generation in his family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley I. Deyarmin Deyarmin, of Indiana; seven children: Russell P. “Buddy Dee” Deyarmin and wife Janet, of Brush Valley; Charlene Hearn and husband Thomas, of Shippenville; Melvin R. “Sonny” Deyarmin and wife Cindy, of Indiana; Leonard L. Deyarmin and wife Joan, of Indiana; Lois L. Troup and husband Terry, of Penn Run; Kathy L. Smith and husband Kenneth, of Indiana; and Gary David Deyarmin, of Indiana; one brother: Robert Deyarmin, of Ohio; six sisters: Ann Haslesu, of Homer City; Ruth Wersh, Lois Linn and Faye Garazetti, all of Ohio; Linda English and Hazel Fanning, both of Homer City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers: Marl, George, Richard, Eddie, Glenn, and Irving Paul Deyarmin; three sisters: Mildred Smith, Arlene Fairman, and Bonnie Hardin.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday with Pastor Keith Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Cherryhill Progressive Brethren Cemetery.
