David Lynn Pennington, 67, of Ijamsville, MD, formerly of Glen Campbell, PA went home to be with his Lord on Friday, November 16, 2012 from his home in Maryland. He was surrounded by his wife, son and his devoted dog, T.
The son of Alie David and Dollie L. (Lockard) Pennington, he was born on July 3, 1945 in Spangler, PA.
David served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was a member of the South End Baptist Church, in Frederick, MD.
David was a mechanical designer involved with naval contracts. He had been employed by Vitro Corp and RGE. David was also a self-employed home designer.
A man of strong faith and concern for others, David was involved with the World Changers; the Southern Baptist Relief and the Red Cross Disaster Relief. David reached out to others in sharing God’s love by helping to support the Samaritan’s Purse; Wycliffe Bible Translators; Hands of Love; Waterboyz for Jesus and the Hands of Love Mission.
David married his wife, Marcia H. (Enghauser) Pennington in November 1969.
He is survived by his loving family. His wife of forty-three years, Marcia, of Ijamsville, MD; son, Andrew L. Pennington and wife Cassie of Walkersville, MD; his two grandchildren: Carissa and Justin Pennington; his sister, Mary Lou Buchanan and husband Guy of Coudersport, PA and an extended family of uncles; aunts and cousins.
David was preceded in death his father in 1962 and his mother in 2006.
Friends will be received from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Church of the Nazarene, 3513 Route 119 Hwy South, Homer City, PA. A 10:00 a.m. funeral service officiated by his cousin, Rev. Chuck Lockard, will take place immediately following the visitation. Interment will take place at the Burnside Cemetery in Burnside, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be forwarded to: Wycliffe Bible Translators; 9099 Ridgefield Drive, Suite #105, Frederick, Maryland 21701. These donations will go towards purchasing a used truck for Papua, New Guinea, one of David’s favorite places he served.
