Betty Ann Kummer Heiges, 81, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Indiana, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in Cary, NC.

A daughter of the late Albert G. and Anna Kennedy Kummer, she was born in Perrysville.

Betty Ann was a graduate of IUP and a long-time resident of Indiana, where she was involved in the community via Meals on Wheels, Red Cross, and other organizations.  She also taught Spanish and English at Indiana Area Junior High School.  Betty Ann was well known for her interest in baseball, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, and as a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed retirement living in Lakeland, Fla., and Apex, NC.

She is survived by four children: Susan Rosenberry and husband Russ, Nancy Heiges and partner Sondra Fennell, Linda MacLellan and husband Mark, and Rick Heiges and wife Tracy; nine grandchildren: Katie, Kelly Daly and husband Rodrigo, Lindsay, Meagan, Orion, Riley, Torin, Jennifer and Jessica.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Heiges in 1993, and three brothers: Jim, Ralph and Cal Kummer.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. David J. Hanna officiating.  Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family has suggested, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Betty Ann Heiges may be made to the First United Methodist Building Fund, 72 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland, Fla. 33801.
