Dallas “Jim” D. Henry, 84, of Cherry Tree, Pa., died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at Miners Medical Center in Hastings, Pa.


The son of Paul Vernon and Zelda Jane (Mumau) Henry, he was born on November 14, 1929, in Commodore, Pa.


Jim served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a corporal during the Korean War.


He was a truck driver for over thirty-five years with Kaplan Trucking. For four years he operated the Beanery Restaurant in Cherry Tree, Pa.


Jim was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local #110 of Ebensburg and a life member of the Cherry Tree American Legion Post #521 for twenty-two years.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and woodworking.


Jim married his wife, Gwendylon “Babe” (Siford) Henry, on Jan. 29, 1955, and they shared almost 59 years together.


He is survived by his wife, Babe of Cherry Tree, Pa., and six children: Jimmie Henry and wife Beverly of Cherry Tree, Pa.; Timothy Henry of Mentcle, Pa.; Dallas Henry and wife Evelyn of Cherry Tree, Pa.; David Henry and wife Carla of Commodore, Pa.; Patrick Henry and wife Shannon of Bellefonte, Pa.; and Vanessa Pantojas and husband Ray of Clarksville, Tenn.; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren and his brother, Vernon Henry of Commodore, Pa.


Jim was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Datus, Dean and Scott Henry, and three sisters: Ellen Henry, Isabel Wolfe and Elgie Shultz.


Family and friends will be received from 6 - 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, Pa. On Tuesday, Dec. 3, an 11 a.m. funeral service with the observance of military honors will be held at the funeral home with Rev. Daniel Little officiating. Interment will be at the Harmony Cemetery in Westover, Pa.
