Walter E. Jarvie Jr., 81 of Clymer, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012 at UPMC Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA.
He was the son of Walter E. Sr. and Goldie (Kunkle) Jarvie, born on November 3, 1931 in Clymer, PA.
Walter was employed by the Clymer Brickyard for 15 years until the plant closed.  He was then employed by the Clymer Schools and IUP for a total of 20 years until his retirement in 1993.  Walter was an active member in the Clymer Volunteer Fire Dept. since the age of 18 and had become an Honorary Member after that.  He was a member of the Central District Volunteer Fireman’s  ASSN. & Volunteer Fireman’s ASSN. of Cambria County & Vicinity.  He was a member of the Clymer United Methodist Church for 70 years and helped with the rebuilding of the church when it burned in 1958.   Walter was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.  He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and  people watching while on  vacations/cruises.  Walter also enjoyed camping and spending time on his back porch.     
He is survived by his wife, N. Jean (Emigh) Jarvie of Clymer, one son Bradley A. Jarvie and wife Lori of Clymer; three grandchildren, Cole, Andrew and Abigail; one sister, Loretta Treese of Indiana and one brother, Gary Jarvie and wife Ruth of Clymer.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret Bugay.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at the Harry J. Bence Funeral Home, Clymer.  Additional visitation will be on Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the Clymer United Methodist Church with his service following at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brian Keller, officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
