Dominic J. “Mickey” Sgro, 79, of Indiana, PA, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.
A son of Anthony and Florence (Marino) Sgro, he was born March 8, 1933 in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
Mickey was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Indiana. He had worked at the former Robertshaw Controls Co. in Indiana and then with the I.U.E.
Mickey loved baseball and football and coached Little League and Junior Legion baseball. He enjoyed instant lottery tickets and trips to the casino. Mickey was a loving husband, dad and pappy.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alma (Venturini) Sgro of Indiana; his children, Dominic and wife Jamie of Indiana, PA, Raymond of Clymer, Bernadette and husband Joe of Clymer, Michael and wife Angela of Tyrone; grandchildren, Jillian and husband Tony, Raymond, Joelyssa, Danielle, Michael, Alex, Michelle, Aden, Tyler and Zack; and great-granddaughter, Aubry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Louise and Jenny; brothers, Angelo, Tony, Pete and Joe.
Friends will be received at the Bence-Mihalcik Funeral Home in Indiana on Friday, Dec. 21, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with the praying of the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
