Joseph Mari, 90, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late Alexandro and Elisa Pelosi Mari, he was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Waterman.
Mr. Mari was retired from R&P Coal Company. Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, Blairsville; American Legion Post #141, and the Shelocta Sportsman’s Club. Joe enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. VanHorn and husband Bill, of Indiana; a brother, Edward Mari, of El Cajon, Calif.; a granddaughter, Gina Stokes; three great-grandchildren: Nolan, Carter, and Maranda Stokes; niece, Nicole Tillman and husband Eric, of El Cajon, Calif.; nephew, Dr. Alex Mari and wife Laurie, of Modesto, Calif.; and other numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews; and his best friend, his dog, Rosie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Helen Medvide Mari; and a brother, Henry Mari.
There will be no visitation. A blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. with Fr. William J. Kiel officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. www.robinsonlytleinc.com
