M. Elinor Bair, 90, of Indiana, passed away, Sunday, April 14, 2013, at her residence.
A daughter of the late John M. and Mary E. Clark Wiggins, she was born March 29, 1923, in Indiana.
Mrs. Bair was a graduate of Indiana High School. She was born and raised in a Christian family and she instilled the love of Christian living in her own family. Mrs. Bair was a member of Graystone Presbyterian Church, where she was honored as a 75-plus year member. She was the Indiana County Courthouse Tipstaff for many years. Through the years Mrs. Bair was a member of several golf and bridge groups. She enjoyed games of all types, including Scrabble and crossword puzzles. In recent years, she enjoyed keeping up with her friends and family through email, Words with Friends, and Facebook. Mrs. Bair was a longtime fan of the Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Pirates.
She is survived by five children: Mary Lou Hamilton and husband Bob, of Harrisburg; Jan Hewitt and husband Tony, of Pittsburgh; Lynne Schiefer and husband Chuck, Bonnie Davis and husband Kevin, and Scott Bair and wife Melissa, all of Indiana; brother, Roy Wiggins and wife Norma, of Kittanning; sister-in-law, Ruth Wiggins; 11 grandchildren: Jeff Hewitt and wife Renee, of Kansas; Lisa Harajda and husband David, of Pittsburgh; Laurie Henry and husband Jared, Rob Hamilton and wife Liz, Brad Hamilton and wife Erica, all of Harrisburg; Ben Schiefer and wife Katie, and Jeremie Bair, all of Indiana; Michole Sexton and husband Jesse, of Creekside; Hannah Bair, of Washington; Katie Davis and Reed Bair, both of Indiana; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Bair in 1982; a daughter, Pricilla Ann Bair in 1951; two brothers, Bill and Clark Wiggins; four sisters, Helen Wiggins, Carolyn Smith, Peg Wood and Fran Nichols.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the celebration of life at 11 a.m. Thursday at Graystone Presbyterian Church, with Rev. William D. Milligan officiating. A private interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
