George E. Davis, Jr., 71, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at St. Andrew’s Village.

A son of the late George E. Sr., and Leona Mae Shoop Davis, he was born Dec. 21, 1941, in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Davis was a graduate of Laura Lamar High School. George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Penelec, where he was a welder and boilermaker. George was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Indiana #174, Indiana B.P.O. Elks #931, Indiana American Legion Post #141, F.O.E. #1468, Indiana V.F.W. Post #1989, Red Barn Sportsman’s Club, and the Shelocta Sportsman’s Club. At one time, he drove a race car on the local race tracks and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, shooting pool, and reading.

He is survived by a son, Chad E. Davis, of Pittsburgh; three stepchildren: Craig Parchuke, of Tampa, Fla.; Tacy Ward and husband Christopher, of Summerville, S.C.; Denise Tavarez and husband Hector, of Egg Harbor Town, N.J.; three brothers: John Davis and wife Nedra, of Indiana; Richard Davis and wife Terry, of Home; Roger Davis and wife Connie, of Port St. John, Fla.; a sister, Shirley Harrold and husband Steve, of Washingtonville, OH; seven step-grandchildren; one great step-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Davis; and a sister, Patricia Strasshoffer.

Friends will be received from 6 to8 p.m. Saturday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
