Theron “Ted” Charles Smith, Jr., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1964, to Theron “Ted” and Patricia Orendorff Smith.

He graduated from Indiana Area Senior High School in 1983, where he played football and wrestled.  Ted attended Edinboro University, where he played football, and he attended Oxford University.  He joined the United States Air Force, and while serving in England, he played semi-professional football.  Ted graduated from East Coast Aerotech with a license as aircraft and power plant mechanic.  He worked at Sears and Roebuck, Dulles Aviation in Manassas, Va., and Colgan Air at Dulles Airport.  Ted was musical and created his own improvisational songs on the Roland Juno.  He loved working around planes.  Ted never thought of his job as work, but above all, Ted was most proud of his family, his wife and children.

Ted is survived by his mother, Patricia Smith, of Indiana; his wife, Pamela (Jenkins) Smith, of Stafford, Va., formerly of Indiana; three children: Theron Charles III “Charlie”, Samantha, and Henry, all of Stafford, Va.; four siblings: Stacey and husband Thomas Carmo, of Palmyra; Lisa Spencer, of Indiana; Thomas Smith and wife Julie (King), of Crozet, Va.; and Robert Kelly Smith and wife Kristie (Katzenbach), of Phoenixville; nieces and nephews: Ashley, Kaitlyn and Shannon Carmo; Brittany, Jacob, and Justin Spencer; Emily and Natalie Smith, and Abby and Angus Smith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Theron Smith; grandparents, Dr. Harold and Genevieve Orendorff, and Paul and Margaret Smith.

A celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to the memorial educational trust fund being established for Theron’s children.  Contributions payable to the “Theron Smith Memorial Education Fund” may be sent to, Thomas Smith, PO Box 39, Crozet, VA 22932-0039.
