Helen “Janie” Maggio, 81, of Homer City, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at her residence.
A daughter of the late Michael and Mary Hrebik Cybak, she was born April 26, 1932, in Graceton.
Mrs. Maggio was a graduate of Homer City High School. Janie was a homemaker and had retired as a supervisor from Campus Sportswear. She enjoyed baking, cooking and listening to the radio. Janie was a caring, thoughtful, loving and incredibly generous person. She loved spending time caring for her grandchildren and she always made the holidays a special time for her family. Not only did she create a loving home for her children, but she opened her home to all. Janie was exceptionally patient and understanding of others. Her heart was always filled with love and understanding. She always put others before herself. Janie willingly took on the responsibility to help others. We were truly blessed to have such an amazing woman in our lives. She will always be loved and remembered throughout each and every day.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Maggio; a daughter, Gloria J. Anderson and husband Ken, of Indiana; a brother, Edward Cybak, of Brookfield, Ohio; nine grandchildren: Rachel Anderson, Julie Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Kasey Anderson, Courtney Ludman and husband Chad, of Philadelphia; Nathan Maggio, of Clearwater, Fla.; Melanie Maggio, of New York City, NY; Laura Maggio and Matthew Maggio, of Harrisonburg, VA.; three great-grandchildren: Teague and Ryker Ludman, and Ashton Maggio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph D. Maggio; two brothers, Albert and Elmer Cybak; and two sisters, Irene Michlak and Marie Greene.
There is no visitation. Services are private and will be held at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy Mihoerck officiating. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Robinson-Lytle, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
