DONALD BORING, 90



            Donald M. Boring, 90, of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at his home.

            The son of Meade and Grace (Wilt) Boring, he was born on Dec. 8, 1923, in Uniontown, Green Township, Indiana County, Pa. Don was a lifelong resident of Uniontown.

            He served in the US Army during World War II.          

            Don was retired from the railroad.

            He greatly enjoyed hunting, riding his four wheeler and vegetable gardening.

            Don especially loved sitting around a campfire sharing time with his family.

            He married his wife, the late Geraldine “Gerry” J. (Kopp) Boring, on Sept. 16, 1943.

            Don is survived by his three children: Donald Boring and wife Chris of Vienna, Ohio; Karen Polochak and husband John of Hubbard, Ohio, and Rhonda Shaffer and husband Terry of Uniontown, Pa.; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and his sister, Esther McCullough of Northern Cambria, Pa.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of almost sixty-eight years, Gerry, on Sept. 10, 2011; his granddaughter, Terry Penrose; three brothers: William; Robert and David Boring and his two sisters: Virginia States and Gaynell Dospoy.

            Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, Pa., where an 11 a.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29, with Rev. Connie Homerski officiating. Interment will be at the Uniontown Cemetery.
