Edgar G. “Jerry” Stokes, 70, of Indiana, passed away, Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at his residence.


A son of the late Arthur and Mildred Williamson Stokes, he was born May 4, 1943, in Martinsburg, W.Va.


Mr. Stokes was a graduate of Indiana High School.  Jerry was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.  He was a printer with the Indiana Gazette for 17 years.  Prior to his retirement from the Indiana Gazette, Jerry had been a technician and sales representative for 20 years for U.S. Printing Ink.  He was an avid Steelers fan, and enjoyed sports, traveling, doing yard work and watching his grandchildren play sports.


He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet Kephart Stokes; two children: Tracie Clark and husband Rob, of Export; and Gregory G. Stokes, of Erie; two brothers: Arthur V. Stokes, of Seward; and Allen R. Stokes, of Ernest; a sister, Pamela Stewart, of Indiana; five grandchildren: Heather, Meagan, Nolan, Carter and Maranda; three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Stokes.


Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Greg Golden officiating.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
