The Irish defense preserved the win when they stopped Cardinal running back Stefan Taylor on a 4th and goal play from the 1 yard line. The win keeps Notre Dame's BCS National Championship hopes alive. The Irish improve their record to 6 and 0 on the year, first time that has happened since 2002.
