Dan Ayebo scored 13 points including eight in overtime as the ninth-ranked IUP men won in overtime, 86-75 over Edinboro. The Crimson Hawks led by 18 points in the second half, but Edinboro staged a furious rally led by the three-point shooting of Jay Fletcher, who scored 25 of his game-high 30 points in the second half.
IUP started the overtime period with a 13-2 run as Ayebo scored a field goal and hit six free throws. Mathis Keita led IUP with 21 poins and Anthony Wells added 16.
The IUP women lost to Edinboro, 73-62, falling behind by 20 points at halftime and struggling to try to catch up in the second frame. Amy Fairman led IUP with a career-high 17, 15 of them in the second half. She also had six rebounds and five steals. Melanie Todd scored a career-high 13 for the Hawks. IUP star Sarah Pastorek was injured during the game.
IUP's teams return to the Kovalchick Complex for Community Appreciation Night, a doubleheader with Mercyhurst on Saturday.
