HARLON HILL DIES AT 80

The man for whom the NCAA Division Two football player of the year award is named has passed away at age 80. Harlon Hill the NFL rookie of the year in 1954 with the Chicago Bears passed away Thursday after a lenghty illness. Hill became the first Jim Thorpe Trophy award  winner after a college career at Florence State Teachers College .( now North Alabama ) He played one year with the Steelers in 1962 .
