METS AVOID SWEEP FROM PIRATES

John Buck's two-run single highlighted a three-run fist inning as the Mets beat the PIrates 4-2 to avoid a three-game swweep at PNC Park. Starling Marte and Jose Tabate score the only two runs for the Bucs, who were on a three game winning streak. Gerrit Cole allowed three runs in five innings and dropped his record to 4-and-3. This was his third straight loss of the season. Pittsburgh goes into the All-Star break at 56-and-37 jsut one game behind the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central.
