Homer Center suffered through two scoring droughts last night and they were enough to doom the Wildcats in the District 6 semifinals, as Bishop Guilfoyle defeated them 58-53.

Trailing 12-9 late in the first quarter, the Marauders went on a 14-0 run to take a lead they never relinquished.  Sam McCloskey led the way for BG, scoring 17 in the first half.  The Wildcats were outscored in the second period, 15-2 and trailed by 13 at the half.  In the third quarter, though, they rallied to pull to within one point, 29-28, and had the ball with a chance to take the lead, but BG stopped that offensive trip and went on a 10-0 run to stretch the lead back to 11. Homer Center was able to rally again in the last minute, but could never get closer than 4 points.

Homer Center will play a consolation game on Thursday against Juniata Valley, which lost to top-seed Bishop Carroll last night.  The site and time is still to be determined.
