IUP MEN’S BASKETBALL OPENS SEASON WITH WIN

Seniors Jacobo Diaz and Dante Lombardi led five Crimson Hawks in double-figures as No. 8 IUP men’s basketball opened its 2018-19 season with a big 83-72 regional win over Concord Friday night at the Kovalchick Complex.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE FACING VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANIES

The spring has been a difficult one for first responders, with fatal accidents, wildfires, and the storms and resultant power outages. What are the biggest challenges facing volunteer fire companies?

Personnel.  The average age of a Pennsylvania firefighter is 48.  
Equipment.  New fire trucks start at $500,000 and can top $1 million.
Mandates.  Their training requirements are too difficult.
Danger!  A first responder is always in jeopardy.
