Indiana County Commissioners took a big step today in getting cellular service to an under-served area of the county.
The commissioners today approved a request from the Department of Emergency Services to put a cell phone add on for the Blue Spruce tower site that would allow any cell service provider in the area to make calls in the area of Blue Spruce Park. Tom Stutzman, the director of Indiana County’s Emergency Services compared it to a cell phone signal booster in someone’s home.
In other business, today was the final meeting for Commissioners Chairman Mike Baker, who is resigning his position on November 6th to take on the position as manager of North Fayette Township. Baker had a lot of praise for his fellow commissioners, past and present.
Baker was appointed to the board of commissioners in 2014, and prior to that, he served as the county’s coroner.
