George Richard Rifendifer, 67, Indiana, died Sunday, April 12, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
The son of George I. and Jeanne Seely Rifendifer, he was born June 22, 1952 in Cheswick, PA.
George known to his friends as Buzz or Rick was a graduate of West Allegheny High School. During his lifetime he had been employed in various positions with Verizon and most recently as a courier for S&T Bank. George was a member of Summit Church and was a Veteran having served in the Air Force. His interests included guns, wood working, fly tying, building fishing rods, camping, fishing and riding his motorcycle. George’s main goal in life was to make someone laugh or smile each day.
Surviving is his wife, Kathy (Stavres) Rifendifer whom he had been married to for ten years; children, Michael Rifendifer and Christopher (Lisa) Rifendifer; stepchildren, Anna Clawson and Jonathon (Kaiti) Stavres; grandchildren Kylee, Anna, Teagan, Isabella and Tyler, step grandchildren Airi, Xander, Andrya, Brooke, Edan, Tobias, Scarlett, Spencer, Falyn, Conor, Eric, and Preston; great-grandson Maverick, sisters, Janet (Roy) Hallum , Nancy (Ralph) Davis, and Beverly Decker.
George was preceded in death by his parents.
George’s inspiration through his cancer journey was Heidi Allison. In honor of the faith and hope that both Rick and Heidi demonstrated, the family requested in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the ICTC Heidi Allison Character Award through the Community Foundation of the Alleghenies, 216 Franklin Street, Suite 400, Johnstown, PA or to the charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements will be private and under the direction of the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.
