The latest countywide census statistics are showing percentages of how many people in each municipality have self-responded to the US Census.
According to the Census Bureau, as of April 18th, the municipality that has the highest percentage of its population self-responding to the census is Blacklick Township at 65.5 percent. Conemaugh Township is behind them by one percentage point. Third is Cherryhill Township at 63.1 percent, and then South Mahoning with 59.8 percent and East Mahoning Township with 59.4 percent to round out the top five of Indiana County’s 38 municipalities.
On the other end of the spectrum, the lowest self-response percentage is Creekside Borough at 11.5 percent Cherry Tree Borough is next at 11.8 percent, Ernest Borough is at 12.6 percent, Glen Campbell Borough is now at 13.7 percent and Plumville Borough has the fifth lowest self-reporting rate in the county at 23 percent.
By comparison, Indiana Borough is at 37.5 percent, Center Township is 41.5 percent, White Township has a 48 percent self-response rate and Homer City Borough came in at 51.7 percent.
Indiana County’s self-response rate is at 46.5 percent.
