Small businesses are beginning to see customers return as the counties start to reopen. This includes a long-running store in White Township that sells boots, shoes and work clothes.
White’s Variety Village West on Philadelphia Street has been in operation for over 70 years, but even longtime owner Debra Heggenstaller said that the closure due to the coronavirus crisis was something she had never seen before.
One of the difficulties, she said was applying for the Paycheck Protection Program.
Now that the store has been open for the past two weeks, she said that her regular customers are starting to come back.
So far, business has started to return to White’s Variety, and Heggenstaller said her customers are wearing masks and practicing social distancing guidelines so everyone, including her employees, remain safe.
