State police say one person suffered a serious injury in a crash on Tanoma Road on Wednesday afternoon. Troopers say that at 4:02 PM, an SUV driven by 58-year-old Jerry Tanner of Clymer was going east on Tanoma Road in Rayne Township when it went off the right shoulder for about 100 yards while trying to negotiate a left turn in the road. The car went back onto the roadway and crossed the road, going off road once again. The SUV then hit a ditch. Tanner was unresponsive and was flown by AHN medical helicopter to Conemaugh Hospital. Citizen’s Ambulance EMS and Clymer fire department assisted on the scene.
A Johnstown man was not hurt as his car crashed in East Wheatfield Township on Tuesday. State police say that 24-year-old Christopher Pinella was driving his SUV on Route 56 East when he fell asleep at the wheel. The SUV went across the road and crashed into a guide rail on the exit ramp of Route 22. Pinella was uninjured and was wearing his seat belt. The driver’s side air bags were deployed. The SUV was towed from the scene.
A Clymer woman was charged with disorderly conduct over not wearing a mask at a grocery store. State police say on Sunday, June 14th, troopers were dispatched at 12:10 PM to the Indiana Giant Eagle on Ben Franklin Road for a customer causing a disturbance over being asked by store employees to wear a mask. The customer, identified as 41-year-old Garlene McCachren of Clymer told the employees that despite the store’s policy, she was not going to wear a mask and began to shout profanities at the employees and then pushed her shopping cart into a produce display. No damage was reported, but she continued to curse out employees as she walked out. Charges of disorderly conduct were filed with District Judge Susanne Steffee’s office.
A man from Shelocta was charged with harassment and disorderly conduct after he threatened to drive his vehicle through a veterinary office. State police say that 44-year-old Wesley Scott of Shelocta called the Veterinary Clinic of Indiana on Tuesday afternoon and threatened to drive his vehicle through the building. Charges were filed through district judge Susanne Steffee’s office.
State police are investigating a theft by deception case in Center Township. Police say on June 1st, they were notified by a 71-year-old Homer City woman that someone defrauded her through a phony Amazon email out of $1600.
