Police in Indiana Borough had a busy weekend with several incidents reported between Friday and Sunday.
The incidents started Friday night at 10:42 PM when police were called out for a noise-related complaint in the 600 block of School Street. Officers could hear the noise from more than 50 feet away. The resident at the home where the noise came from, 21-year-old Amy Nelen of Fenelton, was cited for a violation of the noise ordinance.
On Saturday at 4:19 AM, police found 26-year-old Tyler Atherton of Indiana under the influence of a controlled substance in the 800 block of Philadelphia Street. He was cited for public drunkenness and lodged in Indiana County Jail.
At 12:49 PM that same day, police found 25-year-old Rodney Campbell of Indiana in the 500 block of South 4th Street under the influence of a controlled substance. Police believed that he was a danger to himself and others, and was taken into custody. Campbell was later released.
Police would later be called out at 8:00 PM when a window was broken at a residence in the 100 block of South 11th Street. Several men were seen running from the area immediately following the incident. Police advise anyone who has information on this to call police at 724-349-2121.
Early Sunday morning, police charged 18-year-old Peyton Edinger of Valencia with underage possession of drugs or alcohol and having an open alcoholic container. He was found at 12:40 AM in the 200 block of Rice Avenue. Citations were issued through district magistrate Guy Haberl’s office. And at 1:36 in the morning, police charged a juvenile from Erie, PA with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after he was found with the items during a traffic stop in the 700 block of Locust Street. The suspect’s identity was not released.
Police also reported the thefts of signs in the borough. Both happened on Sunday, with a stop sign and pole taken from the intersection of South 7th and Grant Street and the street signs for South 7th and School Streets were taken from the southwest side of the intersection. Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call police.
