Indiana Regional Medical Center has announced their board of directors and the directors from Punxsutawney Area Hospital have entered into an agreement to establish the Pennsylvania Mountains Health Care Network, and formalize collaboration under one governing board.
According to a news release from IRMC, the PMCN will serve as the parent organization for both hospitals and will create alliances of scale and sustainability for IRMC and PAH. Both hospitals will retain their local identities and operate as two community not-for-profit hospitals. Each hospital will also retain their existing medical and nursing staffs, employees, volunteers and community connectors, but there will be some sharing of human resources.
IRMC president and CEO Steve Wolfe will serve as the president and CEO of PMCN. He said in the news release that he believes “this collaboration will help sustain a high level of patient care residents already receive in Indiana and Jefferson Counties.”
The formation of the PMCN has been a year in the making. It was originally formed in 2015 along with Clarion Hospital, but in 2019, Clarion formally merged with the Butler Health System.
