Two more Indiana County school districts have announced a move to all-remote learning as educators struggle against the surge in coronavirus infections across Pennsylvania.
The United School District will move to remote learning for both the high school and elementary school starting tomorrow, and through at least December 4th. Faculty and staff will be in the buildings as usual, but only employees will be permitted to enter. In-person classes will be held today to enable students and staff to prepare. The district’s virtual parent/teacher conferences next Wednesday will go on as scheduled.
With Blairsville Elementary School already closed, the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District has announced that Saltsburg Elementary students will switch to remote learning starting today. The district was informed of two positive coronavirus tests at the school yesterday. Technically, the buildings will be closed through Tuesday, but with the Thanksgiving holiday schedule taking effect next week, the district plans to welcome back students to the buildings on Monday, November 30th. The two middle/high schools will remain open as scheduled.
Purchase Line has announced a positive coronavirus case in a student at its elementary school. There was exposure to some other students and quarantines are in effect. While classes will continue as usual, the Purchase Line School Board will hold a special virtual meeting at 6:30 tonight to evaluate its Health & Safety Plan. No members of the public will be allowed in, but there is a Zoom link at the district website for those who wish to watch.
