The Indiana County Commissioners on Wednesday received some good news concerning the battle against Covid-19 in Indiana County.
Director of Emergency Services Tom Stutzman said that the county has seen numbers for positive patients and hospitalized patients go down over the last few weeks, and that the anticipated post-holiday season spikes were not seen. He said the county is working on creating a community vaccination site .
Stutzman added that as of today, 10 percent of Indiana County’s population has received at least their first covid-19 vaccination, with four percent of the county receiving both shots.
In other business, the commissioners approved two Cares Act Revolving Loan Fund grants of $50,000 each to Indiana Hair Designers and to Juart Brothers Excavating. The commissioners also authorized a contract with Stiffler, McGraw and Associates to perform an asbestos survey at the Old Ernest Mine building at a cost of $1,700. The money will come from the county’s 2017 CDBG funds.
