A Shelocta man was sentenced in two drug-related cases in Indiana County Court on Friday.
30-year-old Frederick J. Moran was ordered to serve probation for one year for each count of misdemeanor possession and drug paraphernalia possession. Senior Judge William Martin ordered that the sentences run concurrently. No punishment was handed down for summary public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. This was for an incident on February 2nd, 2020. He was also ordered to serve a year of probation for a case on July 25th of last year for possession of drug paraphernalia, and that sentence will run concurrently with the other case.
Moran was picked up by police in late July after state troopers received a call for a disorderly man in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Roush Drive in White Township. Police found Moran under the influence of a controlled substance to the point that he was a danger to himself and others. Police had found three bags of suspected crystal meth at the scene.
Also sentenced on Friday was Peggy J. Bender of Sprankle Mills who was ordered to a year of probation for a plea to a charge of drug possession. And Sarah Erdley of Indiana was ordered to pay fines and court costs connected with a guilty plea to a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana.
