Even though Pitt held Clemson to a two-point lead in the opening half of Saturday’s regular season finale, the Tigers’ offense sparked an early run in the second half to secure the 77-62 victory and hand the Panthers their eleventh loss on the season.
Al-Amir Dawes led Clemson on the floor with a season-high 21 points and 5 three-point field goals, while sophomore forward Justin Champegnie topped the Panthers’ scoring column with 13 points. Ithiel Horton followed in with nine points in the game, while senior forward Terrell Brown tallied five rebounds.
As a team, Pittsburgh went 20-45 (44.4 percent) from the floor and 9-18 (50 percent) from the three-point arch.
The Panthers end their regular season with a 10-11 record, placing them at No. 12 in the Atlantic Coastal Conference (ACC).
