The total number of brush fires in Indiana County is now up to 60 as crews were out for another series of fires yesterday.
Along with a fire reported yesterday on Lions Health Camp Road just before noon that brought out Indiana, Creekside, Elderton, Aultman and Homer City fire departments, crews from Glen Campbell, Rossiter and Burnside were called out for a brush fire on Jefferson Street in Glen Campbell at 12:42. Mahaffey would assist at that fire as well.
Aultman, Coal Run, Black Lick and Blairsville fire departments were called out around 2:10 PM yesterday for a brush fire on Stuchell Road in Black Lick Township. No word yet if it was connected to a fire reported Sunday. Commodore Fire Department would be called out for a brush fire on Cypress Road in Green Township at 2:29 PM.
And crews from Clyde, Black Lick, Armagh and Coral-Graceton were called for a brush fire on Route 22 East in Burrell Township at 2:49 PM.
In the evening, crews across the county were called out for two separate structure fires. Black Lick, Blairsville, and Coral-Graceton firefighters were dispatched for a structure fire on Barrondale Road in Josephine. The call went out at 8:08 PM and initial reports say the fire was quickly knocked down.
The second structure fire was reported in Glen Campbell Borough at 8:24 PM on Rickardsdale Road. Glenn Campbell, Rossiter, Cherry Tree, and Burnside fire departments along with the RIG team and Citizens Ambulance were called out for that fire, with Punxsutawney’s Central and Lindsey fire departments called out at 9:47 PM to assist.
