Earlier this month, the Pennsylvania Game Commission finalized the start dates for the 2021-22 hunting and trapping seasons.
Deer season will open on Oct. 2 for archery and will end on Sunday, Nov. 14. There will also be a special four-day period from Nov. 15-19, and second-season archery will run from Dec. 27 to Jan. 17, 2022.
Rifle season will run from Nov. 27 to Dec. 11. There is only one scheduled Sunday for rifle hunting, which will be Nov. 28.
The Game Commission also passed a start date of Oct. 23 for coyote, fox and other forms of general trapping. Hunters in Wildlife Management Units 2C, 2D and 2E – which overseas portions of Indiana County – will be allowed to trap bobcats and fishers beginning Dec. 18.
