Covid-19 continues to crop in Indiana County’s schools. Indiana Area announced yesterday that a student and an employee at Horace Mann Elementary have both tested positive and both were in school during their infectious period. That being the case, five additional staff and/or students will quarantine.
Also, a student at the Junior High tested positive and was also in school during the infectious period, and nineteen additional staff and/or students will quarantine as a result.
Those four active cases and another active case at East Pike Elementary bring the total to five for the district, which is staying open under its current educational model.
Of the districts that continue to publicly post their numbers, Blairsville-Saltsburg is showing five active cases (a student and a staffer at Blairsville Elementary, two students at Blairsville Middle/High, and a student at Saltsburg Middle-High); and United reported a new case last Wednesday at its elementary school.
Meanwhile, several districts are surveying parents to gauge their interest in having their of-age students vaccinated against the virus. Indiana Area announced plans last week to have students vaccinated today at the Kovalchick Complex.
