For the second consecutive year, May 9th was a day of mixed weather patterns as wet snow, rain and cold temperatures were present in Indiana County and most of Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania American Water Company’s Two Lick Filter Plant reports that the high and low temperatures during the 24-hour period from 7 a.m. on Sunday to 7 a.m. today was 45 and 35 degrees respectively, and total of 1.96 inches of precipitation fell in Indiana County. Last year, the high and low temperatures were 40 and 24 degrees.
While the wintry mix came to the chagrin of many residents across the state, Accuweather meteorologist Bob Larson said that he thinks the winter weather is over for the spring.
Larson also said that, while frost could pose a threat this week, thunderstorms could be a commonality as the spring evolves.
He adds that, as warmer weather approaches, residents should pay attention to severe weather alerts and take shelter when severe weather presents itself. You can find up-to-date Accuweather forecasts on our website under the “Weather” tab.
