On Wednesday night, the Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board will hold a special meeting to discuss some of the district reorganization elements that have been put out to the public for their opinion.
On the agenda for tomorrow night is the new name for the district, the new school colors and the new mascot for the sports teams. The district administration had put out a survey for district residents to complete asking for a new name for the district, and they also put out to the students a survey for the new school colors and mascot. The names “Blairsville” and “Saltsburg” were not allowed to be used in the new district name, nor were orange or red allowed to be used in the new school color combination.
While the new district name has not been revealed, the draft agenda shows that the board will look to approve the new mascot for the district as the Panthers, and the school colors would be royal blue and black.
The board is also looking to approve a design services contract with Steven Turk of Saltsburg at a cost not to exceed $2,000. The board will also look to hire Kelsey Ferguson as the new director of district athletics and student activities.
The meeting will be held Wednesday night at 7:30 and will be streamed on the district’s YouTube channel.
