A woman facing charges of endangering the welfare of children was sentenced to serve time in jail earlier today in Indiana County Court.
28-year-old Megan Abbott was sentenced to serve one to 12 months in Indiana County Jail for an incident on January 20, 2020, where police discovered her and Travis Biss intoxicated from a controlled substance while they were the sole caregivers of three children, according to police reports. In addition to serving time in jail, Abbott will be placed on probation for two years, which will run consecutively to parole.
Also in Indiana County Court, one defendant was sentenced in a bond revocation hearing. Court reports say Senior Judge William Martin sentenced 27-year-old Nicholas Empfield to serve 267 days to 2 years less than one day in Indiana County Jail for felony charges of illegally selling and delivering non-controlled substances.
Empfield was originally sentenced on May 21 to serve one year of probation, after he was arrested following a traffic stop in West Wheatfield Township during October of last year.
We have not received word yet on the case regarding 62-year-old Richard Larock of New Florence, who is charged with multiple counts of child abuse-related crimes.
