A fire call in Indiana Borough on Friday turned out to be nothing more than someone setting off a firework-type device in the wrong place.
Indiana Fire Association, borough police and the Hazmat team were dispatched to Essex House Apartments on Oakland Avenue at 6:41 PM on Friday for a reported structure fire. Indiana Fire Officials say that someone had set off a smoke bomb in the hallway of the apartment complex. Officials also said that the incident was caught on security cameras.
There were only two other calls for service yesterday. Those calls included a fuel spill on Clymer Avenue in Cherryhill Township. Clymer Fire Department was dispatched for cleanup efforts. And the Blairsville and Blacklick fire departments were dispatched at 12:36 PM for a physical rescue on Truman Road in Derry Township by Westmoreland County 911.
