Earlier this week, the PA Turnpike Commission announced that turnpike tolls will increase for the 14th consecutive year.
Beginning in January 2022, drivers will see a 5 percent increase in turnpike fees, regardless of if they possess an E-Z pass or if they are billed through toll-by-plate.
While the fee increases, it’s not as big of a hike as in recent years. Turnpike CEO Mark Compton said that it’s the first time in six years where the toll increased by less than 6 percent. He adds that toll increases could drop to as low as 3 percent by the year 2050.
After 2022, rates for E-ZPass and toll-by-plate will round up approximately ten cents for regular and commercial vehicles.
