Once again, strong storms rolled through the area, and once again, power outages were reported throughout the county.
Nine calls for power lines down, one report of a transformer fire and five incidents of fallen trees were reported by Indiana County 911 on Thursday, with the calls starting about the same time as the storm at 7:49 PM. The power lines were reported down in North, South, East and West Mahoning Townships, East and West Wheatfield Townships along with Burrell and Banks Townships. As of right now, power is mostly restored for Penelec customers, as they are only reporting 16 outages in the county, scattered among North and West Mahoning Townships, East Wheatfield Township and Cherryhill Township.
Any outages that were reported by REA Energy have been restored.
Penelec reports that the area lucked out with only 30 or so outages reported yesterday. Nearby Westmoreland County had over 1800 outages reported by First Energy, the parent company of Penelec and West Penn Power.
