The United School Board meets tonight and one of its agenda items is a cooperative agreement for the Blacklick Valley football program to merge with United’s.
Both programs have struggled in recent years. Since enjoying a 9-5 season in 2018, United has gone 2-25 in the three subsequent years. Blacklick Valley is 4-23 in the last three years and has not had a winning season since 2012.
The combined team would play in the Heritage Conference and be another blow to the WestPac, which has already lost Portage to the Heritage Conference and has had several other programs merge. Windber has also applied to three other conferences, including the Heritage.
The agenda for the United board tonight also includes a motion to approve the United Varsity Baseball Boosters, noting that the baseball program may include students who are not members of the United School District.
Also on the board’s agenda are several maintenance items, including the boilers and water heaters at the schools, inspection of the bleachers at both schools, and the elevator at the high school. There are also a number of personnel items and several more athletic and academic items to be acted upon.
