State police say yesterday’s lockdown at the Indiana Senior High School was the result of a disturbance caused by a 17-year-old girl who was taken into custody and later released, and they also emphasize that rumors of a firearm or weapon having been involved in the incident are false.
Troopers were summoned at 12:40 PM for a report that the girl was “actively engaged in tumultuous behavior.” She had overturned furniture and was pulling objects down from a wall or walls, and school officials had locked down the building. Police took the student into custody and they report that the girl is facing charges.
The school district issued a statement that the lockdown was ordered “out of an abundance of caution” during the incident and “at no time were other students in danger.”
Police departed the campus at about 1:35 PM.
