Altoona lost to New Hampshire, 4-1. Matthew Fraizer hit a leadoff homer for the Curve’s only run. Andres Alvarez was 1-for-1 with three walks. Carmen Mlodzinski gave up two runs in five innings to take the loss and fall to 0-4 on the season. Curve batters walked nine times in the game but struck out thirteen times.
Aaron Shortridge makes his Double-A debut for the Curve tonight in the third game of the series. He was once considered one of the Pirates’ best prospects, but he missed 2020 because there was no minor league baseball in the pandemic, then missed last season after having Tommy John surgery. The 25-year-old has thrown 9 innings and allowed only one run in three rehab starts with Bradenton.
