The Office of the State Fire Commissioner announced today that applications are now being accepted for a grant program that will impact all 40 counties.
Acting State Fire Commissioner Charles McGarvey said in a news release that fire companies, rescue companies and emergency medical services in Pennsylvania can now apply for the 2022 Act 13 Unconventional Gas Well Fund (UGWF) Grant Program. This program will see funds distributed towards specialized projects relating to natural gas production from unconventional gas wells.
Eligible projects include:
- Obtaining professional national certification of members.
- Purchasing firefighting, emergency medical, rescue or air monitoring equipment, along with training for the equipment by the PSFA.
- Training classes and required educational materials to prepare for incidents at an unconventional gas well pad or related to the unconventional gas industry.
The on-line application period starts today and will remain open until Friday, October 21st at 4 p.m. More information can be found on the Office of the State Fire Commissioner’s website.
