The Northern Appalachian Folk Festival kicks off today in Downtown Indiana.
The official opening ceremonies will be held today at 3:50 in the 500 block of Philadelphia Street. The main stage will be jam packed today with music acts including Black Cat Moan at 4:00, The Bricks at 5:20, Jason Gamble Band at 6:45 and tonight’s feature attraction, Buffalo Rose at 8:00.
The bulk of the activities will be held tomorrow starting with the Walk of Fame ceremony at 10 AM in front of Spaghetti Benders. At 11 AM will be a ceremony for the local Wall That Heals that pays tribute to those who died in service to our country. At 11:30 will be the dedication of the Indiana County Underground Railroad location on the main stage. Entertainment throughout the day includes a fiddle, mandolin and banjo contest, the storytellers and liars competition, several workshops at the American Legion post, and a children’s alley full of activities for kids. Bands on Saturday include Krazy Kat Daddies at 2:30, Jerry B and the Bonetones at 4:00, Eleanor Walrus at 5:30, Black Ridge at 7:00 and Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers at 8:30.
