Pitt was stunned by lowly Georgia Tech last night, 26-21, in their ACC opener. Georgia Tech was playing under interim coach Brent Key after firing their coach, Geoff Collins, earlier in the week.
The Yellow Jackets rushed for 232 yards against the Pitt defense. The Panthers also dropped five potential interceptions, and they lost ACC leading rusher Izzy Abanikanda to injury in the first half after just ten carries.
Playing in steady rain, Penn State survived Northwestern, 17-7, despite turning the ball over five times. The Wildcats did not score after any of the Nittany Lions’ turnovers, but Penn State scored 14 of their points off two of Northwestern’s three turnovers.
