Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco has granted a defense motion to delay a motions hearing for homicide defendant Matthew Bartlebaugh until January 18th.
The 28-year-old Bartlebaugh is accused of killing his father, Jerald Bartlebaugh, on January 1st, 2020. He’s charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and reckless endangerment.
The elder Bartlebaugh was shot to death as he slept, with his girlfriend lying beside him. She was not hurt. Matthew Bartlebaugh suffers from mental illness. He kept police at bay in a standoff before surrendering several hours after the shooting at the family home in Glen Campbell.
No trial date has been set.
