On Thursday, the IUP Council of Trustees authorized the University to begin exploration of the possible development of a new school of osteopathic medicine.
During his report IUP president Dr. Michael Driscoll talked about what inspired the University to look into this course.
If all goes well with the research into the program, it could take three to five years before the first class of students could be enrolled.
In other business, the council approved reducing tuition for out-of-state domestic undergraduate students. The reduction would be along the same lines as the tuition reduction for in-state students that w went into effect this fall, which is a roughly 20% reduction in tuition costs.
