An effort is being organized to help people recently impacted by a fire Wednesday morning in Homer City.
The fire reported at 7:39 a.m. yesterday was at the home of Gerard Desalt. He was the only one home at the time, and made it out safely. Children who lived in the home were in school at the time.
The Homer City Fire department is planning a collection effort to help the Desalt family out. Members of the fire department will head out this Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. caroling or playing Christmas songs and accepting donations to help the family. This includes clothing, gift cards, toys or any other items that can help.
Specific sizes needed for the family include:
- girls 10/12 and 14
- boys 10/12
- women’s size XL, shoe size 8.5/9
- men’s size XL, 36×34 jeans, shoe size 13
The Homer Center School district is also holding a collection drive. Items and money can be dropped off at the school guidance office.
