The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has settled its policy on e-bikes at state parks and state forests.
DCNR says the guidelines are consistent with the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, stipulating that e-bikes be no more than 100 pounds, do not exceed 20 miles per hour when using the motor, have motors that do not exceed 750 watts, and have fully functional, operable pedals.
E-bikes may be used only in parks and on trails where traditional bicycles are permitted, and must be pedaled when used on trails which prohibit motorized vehicles.
