State police have released the state-wide statistics for the New Year’s holiday enforcement period.
Troopers were out on patrol for the holiday weekend from December 30th to January 1st. One of the notable statistics is the fact that there were no fatalities on state roads during the enforcement period. Troopers did investigate 481 crashes during the three day period, with 51 of them being alcohol related. 108 people were injured. Troopers also made 356 DUI arrests, and 257 self-initiated arrests.
A total of 12,445 citations were issued across the state. This includes 4,126 speeding tickets, 378 seat belt citations, issued 625 seat belt warnings and 67 citations for child safety seat violations.
Earlier this week, State Police released the stats for the Indiana County area of Troop A. In the same time period, Troopers from the Indiana Barracks investigated 10 crashes, with four of them related to alcohol. Troopers also handed out a total of 527 citations, including five seat belt citations, 75 seat belt warnings and 245 speeding tickets.
